BANDON’S OLD TOWN HAS MANY UNIQUE SHOPS.
ONE OF THE MOST INTERESTING IS THE COBBLER’S
BENCH. LOCATED AT THE END OF SECOND STREET
ON THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE HISTORIC MASONIC
LODGE, THE COBBLER’S BENCH HAS BEEN A FIXTURE
IN OLD TOWN SINCE 1979. THE MASONIC BUILDING
WHICH IS STILL USED AS A MEETING HALL UPSTAIRS,
IS ONE OF THE FEW BUILDINGS TO SURVIVE THE
DEVASTATING FIRE OF 1936, WHICH DESTROYED
MOST OF BANDON.

ORIGINALLY THE BANK OF
BANDON, THIS CONCRETE STRUCTURE HAS AT
VARIOUS TIMES HOUSED THE NEWSPAPER
OFFICE AND THE BANDON HISTORICAL
SOCIETY, AMONG OTHERS. IN THE SPRING
OF 1983 HAVING SURVIVED A FIRE IN HIS
PREVIOUS SHOP, WOLF DANIEL BRAUN THE
OWNER OF THE COBBLER’S BENCH MOVED
INTO THE BUILDING AFTER THE DEPARTURE
OF THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY.
